Me Vincent Gautrais

Biography
Me Vincent Gautrais is an associate professor at the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Law, where he teaches several courses on technology law and business law. Since June 2005, he has held the University’s Chaire d’excellence en droit de la sécurité et des affaires électroniques [Chair in E-Security and E-Business Law] and is the author of a legal blog on these topics. Me Gautrais is also the director of the Master’s Program in Electronic Commerce. Previously, he was a professor in the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa.
Since 1992, Me Gautrais has written books, undertaken research and taken part in conferences on e-business law, electronic contracts, electronic evidence, cyber-consumption, Web 2.0, network security, the settling of disputes by and regarding the Internet, intellectual property and privacy. He graduated from the University of Rennes 1 in France (B.A. and M.A.) and the University of Montreal (L.L.D., L.L.M., L.L.B.). His doctoral thesis, published in 2002 by Bruylant (Brussels), is entitled
Le contrat électronique international. Me Gautrais is a member of the Quebec Bar.
