Biography Michel Bouchard has been deputy minister and deputy attorney general at Quebec’s Ministère de la Justice since November 12, 2007, after occupying the same position at the department from 1993 to 2003.

Michel Bouchard was called to the Quebec Bar in 1973, and began his career in private practice before joining the department of justice in 1978. He worked successively as a prosecutor and chief prosecutor for the attorney general in the judicial districts of Quebec, Beauce, Montmagny and La Malbaie. In 1988, he was appointed associate deputy minister for criminal and penal affairs. From 2003 to 2007, when he returned to Quebec, he was associate deputy minister of justice at the Department of Justice Canada, and also chaired the federal-provincial working group on justice efficiencies. In
addition, he headed the Canadian delegation to the 11th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Bangkok in 2004.

Michel Bouchard was awarded the distinction “Advocatus Emeritus” by the Quebec Bar Association in 2007. Conferences
