Biography Bernard Corboz is a judge with the Tribunal fédéral [federal court] of Switzerland.
He is from Geneva, where he earned a doctorate in law. In 1972, he received his Geneva law licence, and worked there from 1970 to 1973. He became a prosecuting attorney in 1973 and investigating magistrate in 1974. He was appointed judge of the Tribunal de première instance [court of first instance] in 1975 and of the Cour de justice in 1983. In 1985, he became Attorney General. He joined the Tribunal fédéral in 1981 as a deputy judge, and then the Tribunal militaire de cassation in 1987. On March 21, 1990, he was elected as a federal judge. In 2003, he was promoted to president of the Première Cour civile, and became vice-President of the Tribunal fédéral in 2005. From 2007 to 2008, he was the president of the Conférence des présidents de cour.

He is the author of numerous publications, including Les infractions en droit suisse, (2 volumes), Bern, 2002, and La responsabilité des organes en droit des sociétés, Basel, 2005. He is co-author of Commentaire de la loi sur le Tribunal fédéral, Bern, 2009.
