Preparing the Citizens of Tomorrow through Justice Education
They say “Knowledge is power”. But is it really? In order for young people to become involved citizens in their community, they need more than just to know their rights. Justice education can help them develop some key attitudes and skills that will allow them to resolve basic legal problems.
In this workshop, we examined how young people’s legal capability enables access to justice, particularly for marginalised young people and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The focus was on defining legal capability and stressing the impact that justice education can have on young people’s lives.
Speakers presented different models and concrete examples of outreach projects both in Canada and in the UK, and the challenges of working with youth.
A workshop that looked towards the future and towards change!
