Community Organizations and Plain-Language Legal Information
Law is part of Quebecers’ daily life. Over the course of our lives, we encounter legal questions on a wide range of issues. Luckily, there are community organizations that help citizens deal with these issues.
These community groups are sensitive to the lack of resources when it comes to legal information, and offer legal services tailored to their respective target audiences. Given their intimate knowledge of what is happening on the ground, these organizations are well placed to gauge the level of knowledge and specific needs of their clients. They are also aware of the importance of making legal information available in plain language.
In this workshop, four representatives of community organizations working in very distinct fields explained their missions, the legal services they offer and their findings on the needs of citizens in terms of legal information.
A workshop that sensitized its participants to some pressing needs and the community efforts to meet them!
